From The Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

Two suspects were arrested on Friday night by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office for their involvement in a robbery that occurred at a Fas Mart convenience store in the northern end of the county.

On August 30, 2019, at approximately 9:02 p.m., deputies responded to the Fas Mart located at 2983 Jefferson Davis Highway for a reported robbery. Upon arrival, Deputy Daniel Reed made contact with one of the clerks at the business. The clerk told the deputy that a male subject entered the store, pointed a shotgun at her face, and told her to give him the money from the registers or he would shoot her. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands.

The suspect fled the scene in a white Nissan Maxima and headed north on Route 1 at a high rate of speed. Deputies quickly issued a “Be on the Lookout” for the suspect vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle slowly drove by the Valero while traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway. Deputy Reed jumped into his cruiser and began following the suspect vehicle.

A traffic stop was conducted in the area of the Exxon located at 2842 Jefferson Davis Highway. Deputy Reed observed a male subject in the driver’s seat and a female subject in the front passenger seat. A shotgun similar in appearance to the one utilized in the robbery was observed in plain view inside of the vehicle. Additional evidence was uncovered when a search warrant was executed at a Stafford residence.

The driver was identified as Patrick Castillo, 19, of Stafford and the passenger as a 17-year-old juvenile. They were taken into custody and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and conspiracy. The juvenile was held at the Juvenile Detention Center and Castillo was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
