Annual B101.5 Careathon raises record $140,085 for Children’s National Hospital

Centennial Broadcasting II, LLC, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Hot AC WBQB (B101.5) broadcast the 6th Annual Careathon to benefit Children’s National Hospital on September 26th and 27th.  During the live, 28-hour event at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., B101.5 listeners and sponsors pledged $140,085, a $4,825.08 increase over last year’s $135.259.92 total.  The money will go directly to Children’s National to help ensure every child can receive exceptional care, regardless of illness, injury or ability to pay.

Tracy Jones, Director of Children’s Miracle Network at Children’s National Hospital said, “We are incredibly grateful to the B101.5 team, listeners, and sponsors for their dedication and support for the patients and families at Children’s National. Funds pledged through this event help ensure Children’s National can provide world-class care to kids in the Fredericksburg community and beyond.”

Many local businesses provided matching donations and other valuable resources during the event.  Those businesses include: Total Comfort Heating, Air & Plumbing, Park Lane Tavern, Rocking Nissan of Stafford, Adventure Brewing, The Give Back Team of Coldwell Banker Elite, America’s Choice Mortgage, Sonic Drive-in’s of Fredericksburg, Malawi’s Pizza, Capital Ale House, Creative Color, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, and Warrior Coffee.

 

The B101.5 Careathon has attained significant growth year-over-year.  The inaugural Careathon in 2014, netted just over $35,000.  Today, the 6-year total pledged by B101.5 listeners and advertising partners has risen to $652.415.

 

Children’s National is dedicated to providing the best pediatric care for patients, families, and our entire community.  It’s ranked as the nation’s No. 6 pediatric hospital and, for the third straight year, is ranked No. 1 in newborn care, as well as ranked in all specialties evaluated by U.S. News & World Report.  Children’s National doctors staff the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the Level II Nursery at Stafford Hospital in Stafford, Virginia.  In addition, Children’s National will be opening a new clinic on the Mary Washington Hospital Fredericksburg campus next year with specialties including neurology, cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes, pulmonary, orthopedics, GI, genetics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, hematology and telepsychiatry.

 

Centennial Broadcasting, II, LLC, owns and operates five radio stations and one TV station throughout Virginia, including B101.5 and NewsTalk 1230 WFVA, in Fredericksburg.  B101.5 is a regional radio station with a reach that extends north-south from DC to Richmond, and east-west from Manassas to Southern Maryland.
