As promised, Democrats pass ERA in Virginia

by | Jan 15, 2020 | Government

The General Assembly passed the Equal Rights Amendment on Wednesday. Virginia is the 38th state to pass the ERA. The courts are likely the next stop. Opponents say even with Virginia’s passage the amendment is dead because the timeline for state action has passed. Supporters say the deadline is subject to challenge.

Among those who spoke on the House floor, Prince William Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy and Westmoreland Delegate Margaret Ransome.
