From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

At approximately 1:15 Monday afternoon, Deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve arrest warrants on 25-year old Juquan Washington, 25-year-old male. Washington was wanted by the City of Fredericksburg for multiple weapons charges, such as Brandishing a Firearm, two counts of shooting from a vehicle and two counts of shooting at a vehicle.

Washington was also wanted by Spotsylvania for Reckless handing of a firearm, brandishing a firearm and Discharge a firearm in public. Deputies went to an apartment located in Brittany Commons Apartment complex in the 10000 block of Crystal Palace Lane. As deputies knocked on the door of the apartment door, another deputy in the rear saw Washington on the apartment balcony and directed him to open the door. Minutes later, deputies heard gun fire from within the apartment. At that point, deputies held their positions and negotiations began with Washington.

After several hours with negotiations, Washington came out to deputies where he was taken into custody. It was confirmed that Washington did fire a weapon inside the apartment. There were no other occupants in the apartment. Additional charges may be forthcoming. Washington is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on no bond.

This incident held many citizens in their apartments and others who unfortunately could not enter the complex for their safety. We are pleased that this incident ended peacefully and no citizens were harmed.
