Rich Serbay out as JM coach

James Monroe High School would like to recognize Coach Richard Serbay’ s legacy of achievements, accomplishments and contributions as it will continue to serve as the football program’s foundation.  As the program moves forward this foundation is essential for all future successes.

The James Monroe High School students, faculty and community would like to thank Coach Serbay for instilling a legacy in the city that has had far reaching effects and will last forever.  Dr. Timothy Duffy, Principal of James Monroe High School stated, “we are indebted to Coach Richard Serbay for his enormous contributions to our students, their families, and the entire greater Fredericksburg community. His legacy of excellence, mentorship, and caring cannot be overstated.”

Richard Serbay served as JMHS football coach for about 35 years. His legacy includes:
• Over 250 victories.
• Under his leadership the Jackets were Group AA, Division 3 state champions in 1986,1987,1996
and 2008.
• Member of the Virginia High School League Hall of Fame
• Member of the James Monroe High School Hall of Fame
