Drop-off site in Stafford for safety items needed by first responders

Stafford County has set up a warehouse and logistical supply chain to ensure the Stafford community, as well as community partners, are prepared. Staffed with members of Stafford Fire and Rescue, Stafford’s volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Team Rubicon, a veterans disaster relief organization, the warehouse is accepting donations from the public, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“I thank our volunteers and staff in how quickly this warehouse operation was organized. We recognized a community shortage of certain items, and we wanted to seek donations and leave store items available for the public,” said Stafford Fire and Rescue Chief Joseph Cardello. “Again, we are grateful for our volunteers who are helping to operate the warehouse as well as all the members of the public who have asked how they can help.”

The warehouse is located in the Stafford Fire Training and Logistics Center at 1326 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Potential donors may call(540) 658-5304 in advance of a drop-off. Donors are asked to honk their horns at the entrance to the building, and volunteers will come out and take donations. This effort is to minimize exposure to coronavirus. As well, prospective donors can email the warehouse at [email protected].

Items needed:

· All unused face masks, prefer N95/N100 or surgical grade masks
· Handmade masks*
· New nitrile gloves
· Fabric, elastic and thread for masks*

· New plastic sheeting and duct tape
· Surgical or isolation gowns
· Hand Sanitizer and surface disinfectants
· Paper towels

At this time, food and drink are not being accepted as the warehouse cannot store those items.
