Allison Balmes-John with the Health Department says of these, 34 have ever been hospitalized, 18 are currently hospitalized, and 50 have never been hospitalized and are recovering or have recovered at home in isolation.

She says 51% of the cases in the Rappahannock Health District have been females, 49% have been males.

Allison Balmes-John says 3.5% have been between the ages of 0 and 19, 5.8% are between 20 and 29, 12.8% between 30 and 39, 23.3% between 40 and 49, 22.1% between 50 and 59, 19.8% between 60 and 69, and 12.8% are over the age of 70.

She says though older adults and people with underlying medical conditions remain at higher risk for severe symptoms of COVID-19, people across age groups have tested positive for the virus.

Remember—stay at home as much as possible, practice social distancing, and maintain good hygiene habits to reduce the spread of the virus.
