Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office cancels summer camps

by | Apr 20, 2020 | Outdoors, Police and Fire

From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

For nearly twenty years, the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has organized summer sport camps, ranging from cheerleading, volleyball, basketball to the most attended football. Last year alone, 1850 children participated in these camps, which are free to Spotsylvania County children. Sadly, this year will be much different. With the Covid-19 pandemic these camps for the first time will be cancelled.

Sheriff Harris says “not only do the children look forward to these camps every summer, the deputies volunteer year after year. This decision to cancel didn’t come lightly but for the safety of the citizens and our deputies, we feel it’s the most responsible thing to do. We look forward to seeing all the children back the summer of 2021”
