I-95 Southbound

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound for work as part of of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. 

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

Thursday, 12 a.m. –2 p.m. and Friday, 12 a.m. – 11 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound near Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) at mile marker 134 to mile marker 135. This work is in connection with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Mile Marker 117 to I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area (Mile Marker 108)

Sunday Friday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound will begin at 8 p.m. at mile marker 117, which is south of the Spotyslvania County and Caroline County line. Double lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. for milling and paving this section of interstate. Double lane closures will end at 6 a.m. each day. A single lane may remain closed until 3:30 p.m.

I-95 Northbound

Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound at various locations north of Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway). This work is in connection with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

Wednesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) at mile marker 134. This work is in connection with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

I-95 Northbound and Southbound

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)

Monday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closures and mobile operations on I-95 northbound and southbound at Exit 140 for final construction activities as part of the Exit 140 diverging diamond interchange project.

Stafford County

Route 17 Southbound

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 17 southbound near Sanford Drive to allow crews to work along the shoulder and curb as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road) Area

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Crews are working on final construction activities as part of the Courthouse Road widening project.

Expect brief delays and intermittent flagging operations with alternating, one-way traffic at the following locations:

  • Austin Ridge Drive
  • Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane to Walpole Street, Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive
  • Ramoth Church Road
  • Snowbird Lane
  • Winding Creek Road between Courthouse Road and Embrey Mill Road
  • Woodcutters Road
  • Wyche Road

Hospital Center Boulevard

Monday Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect single lane closures on Hospital Center Boulevard between Courthouse Road and Route 1 for road work as part of the Courthouse Road widening project.

Old Courthouse Road

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Old Courthouse Road between Red Oak Drive and Route 1 for sidewalk construction.

Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road)

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic on Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road) between I-95 and Courthouse Road for a safety widening project.

Route 751 (Eustace Road)

Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic on Route 751 (Eustace Road) near Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) for guardrail repair.

Pavement Markings and Pavement Markers

Monday –Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Be alert to a mobile operation on various primary and secondary routes in Stafford County to allow crews apply pavement markings and install pavement markers. Drivers may encounter brief delays at the following locations:

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound at Falmouth Bridge

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound at the Falmouth Bridge over the Rappahannock River for bridge repairs.

City of Fredericksburg

William Street Closure and Detour

William Street is closed at Sunken Road to westbound traffic for storm sewer work. Eastbound traffic on William Street will be slightly shifted to get around the work zone. Westbound traffic on William Street will be detoured to Littlepage Street and Hanover Street. Drivers are advised to follow the posted detour signs.

Lafayette Boulevard

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Southbound traffic will be shifted to the center lane with a lane closure on Lafayette Boulevard between Blue & Gray Parkway and St. Paul Street for turn lane construction into the future Telegraph Hill and Fredericksburg Park developments. One travel lane will remain open in each direction.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 at Mine Road

Monday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Expect a mobile operations at the Route 1 and Mine Road intersection to allow crews to inspect traffic signals.

East Robert E. Lee Court

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drainage pipe replacement. One-way, alternating traffic through the work zone, which is near the cul-de-sac end of East Robert E. Lee Court. Crews are returning to to place fresh asphalt over the disturbed section of road.

Bloomsbury Lane

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drainage pipe replacement. VDOT crews continue to replace a deteriorated 42-inch corrugated metal pipe with a 60-inch concrete pipe. Single lane closure between Agnes Court and Pamela Lane.

Caroline County

Route 207 over Mattaponi River

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Route 207 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge replacement project.

Route 301 Northbound and Southbound

Monday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Be alert to a mobile operation at various locations on Route 301 northbound and southbound in Caroline County to allow crews apply pavement markings and install pavement markers. Drivers may encounter brief delays.

Route 301 Northbound and Southbound over Wilcox Drive and Campbell Road

Tuesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating lane closures on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridges over Wilcox Drive and Campbell Road for repairs.

Route 301

Thursday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures on Route 301 near Route 608 (Lakewood Road) and Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) for paving.

King George County

Route 218 (Caledon Road)

Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 218 near Route 610 (Indiantown Road) for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers in the work zone.

Lancaster County

Route 635 (Steamboat Drive)

Friday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect flagging and mobile operations on Route 635 (Steamboat Drive) near Route 200 (Irvington Road) for surface treatment.

Middlesex County

Route 603 (Farley Park Road)

Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating lane closures on Route 603 (Farley Park Road) between the Middlesex County and King and Queen County line to allow crews to apply pavement markings.

Northumberland County

Route 630 (Walnut Point Road)

 Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect flagging and mobile operations on Route 630 (Walnut Point Road) near Route 360 (Northumberland Highway) to allow crews to prepare the roadway for surface treatment.

Richmond County

Surface Treatment

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures and mobile operations on various routes in Richmond County for surface treatment. Drivers may experience brief delays at the following locations:

  • Route 3 (Historyland Highway) near Route 624 (Newland Road)
  • Route 607 (Canal Road)
  • Route 634 (Naylors Beach Road) near Route 624 (Newland Road)
  • Route 646 (Millpond Road)

Westmoreland County

Surface Treatment

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect flagging and mobile operations on various routes in Westmoreland County to prepare the roadways for surface treatment. Drivers may experience brief delays at the following locations:

  • Route 609 (Stratford Hall Road) near Route 622 (Currioman Road)
  • Route 622 (Stratford Hall Road) near Route 643 (Panorama Road)

Fredericksburg District

Essex County 

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road)

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road) is closed over Piscataway Creek for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is located between Route 642 (Purkins Road) and Route 622 (Latanes Mill Road). Detour signs are posted along the recommended nine-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in November 2020. 

King and Queen County

Route 617 (Exol Road)

Route 617 (Exol Road) is closed to traffic at the bridge over Exol Swamp while crews replace the structurally deficient bridge. Detour signs are posted along the 8 mile detour around the closure. The bridge will remain closed until Nov. 2020. Click here for the recommended detour route. 

Route 619 (Owens Mill Road)

Route 619 (Owens Mill Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project over Rickenaw Creek. Detour signs are posted along the recommended 10-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in May 2020.

King William County

Route 632 (Mount Olive-Cohoke Road)

A portion of Route 632 (Mount Olive-Cohoke Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. Detour signs are posted along the recommended six-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in November 2020. 

Route 662 (Sharon Road)

A portion of Sharon Road is closed for reconstruction following damage from Tropical Storm Michael. A project to reconstruct a slope and replace a culvert will be advertised to potential bidders in summer 2020. The road is anticipated to reopen to traffic by the end of 2020.
