Fredericksburg, VA Covid-19 Update May 5

Mike Jones, Fredericksburg Fire Chief, provides today's local statistics on Covid-19 in Fredericksburg. Additionally, with Governor Northam’s announcement yesterday of Executive Order #53 being lifted most likely on May 15, City leaders are in the process of developing a plan to re-open City government in the future. Services will continue to be provided for now by telephone and electronic means. The plan to re-open will be a measured, phased approach based on data and focusing on providing service to our community while keeping the health and safety of City employees and the public at the forefront. As this plan is produced it will be shared with the public so that you know our intentions to move operations forward to eventually get to a point where City buildings are fully open to the public. We are also working on a plan to assist city businesses with determining new occupancy loads and helpful hints to provide guidance on meeting social distancing requirements in your business locations. We hope to finalize that after receiving the final guidance from the Governor’s office when non-essential businesses can re-activate on May 15th, conditions permitting.
