Detour to begin on Loriella Park Drive in Spotsylvania for pipe replacement

by | May 8, 2020 | Traffic

Beginning next week, Route 1387 (Loriella Park Drive) in Spotsylvania County will be closed to through traffic between Ascot Circle and Leavells Road for an estimated 60 days for a drainage pipe replacement project.

Loriella Park Drive will close to through traffic starting on Monday, May 11. The road is anticipated to re-open to through traffic in mid-July 2020, weather permitting.

Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closed portion of Loriella Park Drive, which will be located approximately 300 feet east of Ascot Circle.

Access to all driveways and residential entrances will be maintained during the project.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor, Jones Brothers, are replacing a deteriorated 48-inch corrugated metal drainage pipe underneath Loriella Park Drive with a 60-inch concrete drainage pipe. This replacement is necessary to ensure the stability of the road and to maintain the drainage system.

Work is scheduled to occur at the project site on weekdays from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Around 1,200 vehicles a day travel Loriella Park Drive, according to a 2019 VDOT traffic count.
