Election Day in Fredericksburg

City Council elections today in Fredericksburg different from most any other time.   All spring election officials have urged residents to vote absentee.  If you still have your ballot (the deadline to get one early was last week) you have until 7pm tonight to drop it off in the red box at 601 Caroline Street–the Executive Plaza Building.

 

Voting in-person will take place only at the Dorothy Hart Community Center at 408 Canal Street until 7pm.    If you normally vote at a different polling place, those places will not be open today.

“Drive-by voting” will occur in the center’s parking lot to ensure social distancing. You will not need to leave your car to vote. . They will be taking the appropriate safety precautions (masks, gloves, single-use pens, etc.). The Registrar asks that only people who are actually voting in-person come to the Dorothy Hart Community Center in order to minimize the number of people there at any one time.

City Police will direct traffic.

On the ballot:   The candidates for mayor are Mary Katherine Greenlaw and Anne Little.   Three candidates are running for two At-Large seats on City Council:  Matt Kelly, Kerry Devine and Jon Gerlach.
