Rappahannock Area Health District: 34 hospitalized with COVID-19

The Rappahannock Area Health District reports 34 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. In the past 24 hours 37 people tested positive for a total of 1,166 in the region.

State Health Department statistics show most cases (80.2%) statewide are occurring in working age adults between the ages of 20 and 69, with people in their 40s accounting for the largest percentage of cases (18.5%). The majority of deaths (77%) are among Virginians over the age of 70.

Eileen Sousa with the Rappahannock Health District tells us the majority of cases in the region are adults 20-49.

Eight staff members from the Rappahannock Health District have tested positive. Another 21 staff members are considered at risk and are quarantining at home. After cleaning, the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania Health Offices will reopen on Tuesday.
