17th COVID-19 death reported locally

The Rappahannock Area Health District reports 31 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19.
 
The 17th death locally has occurred. Eileen Sousa with the Health District says it was a man in his 50’s. No other information has been provided.
 
There have been 38 new cases within the past 24 hours with ,419 confirmed cases.

The majority of cases continue to be adults aged 20-49.
 
The State Health Department says overall case numbers are increasing as more people are being tested. Meanwhile, data shows the percent of positive results are continuing a decline that started in the middle of April.
 
Thursday at 5pm the State Health Department will host a real-time demo for healthcare providers on the new COVIDCheck tool. It allows patients to self-screen and be directed to care.
