Spotsylvania man in his 70’s is area’s 21st COVID-19 fatality

The Rappahannock Area Health District reports 25 people hospitalized. That’s nine less than yesterday.

Eileen Sousa says the 21st death in the area is a Spotsylvania man in his 70’s.

The Health District says 19 new COVID-19 cases since yesterday for a total of 1,905.

As the overall number of positive COVID-19 test results in Virginia grows, data from the State Health Department dashboard show the percentage of positive results from testing is down. The seven-day average for percent of positive test results was at 8.9% as of Saturday, which is the most recent figure provided by the VDH on Tuesday. That’s down from a peak of 22.2% on April 19.

Global case numbers are reported by WHO in their COVID-19 situation reports. As of June 6, 2020, a total of 6,663,304 cases have been confirmed worldwide.
