“I’m the happiest person in the world!” Caroline County man wins $100,000 Virginia Lottery prize

From The Virginia Lottery:

As Sylvester Freeman redeemed his winning 10X the Money ticket from the Virginia Lottery, he was asked how it feels.   “I’m the happiest person in the world!” the Ruther Glen man replied.    He had good reason. Mr. Freeman had stopped at Carmel Church Exxon Pitstop at 23807 Rogers Clark Boulevard in Ruther Glen a few days earlier. He bought two tickets, scratched them, and discovered that one was a $100,000 winner.

“I about had a heart attack!” the retired truckdriver said. “I couldn’t believe it!”

The 10X the Money game (game #1990) is one of dozens of Scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. Mr. Freeman is the third person to claim the $100,000 prize in game #1990, which means four top prizes remain unclaimed. The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,571,714. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.26.

Mr. Freeman said he intends to take care of his family with his winnings.

The Virginia Lottery is good fun for a great cause. Mr. Freeman lives in Caroline County, which received more than $2.6 million in Lottery funds for K-12 public education last fiscal year.
