I-95 Southbound

Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base) to Exit 143 (Garrisonville Road), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 10 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound for pipe inspections associated with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. –  9 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 7 a.m. Milling and paving on I-95 southbound near Exit 140 (Courthouse Road). On Monday through Thursday evenings, a single lane closure begins at 8 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 9 p.m. Two southbound lanes reopen the following morning by 5 a.m. and all lanes reopen by 9 a.m. On Friday evening, a single lane closure begins at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure starting at 10 p.m. Two lanes will open by 5 a.m. Saturday, and all lanes will open by 7 a.m. Saturday.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway), Stafford County

Wednesday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 5 a.m. Single lane closure. Repairs to bridge over Potomac Creek, which is just north of Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 10 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound for pipe inspections for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 118 (Thornburg), City of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County

Monday – Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure for painting of fresh pavement markings. Mobile operation.

Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) Exit Ramp, Spotsylvania County

Wednesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) for painting of fresh pavement markings. Mobile operation.

Exit 118 (Thornburg) to Exit 104 (Carmel Church), Spotsylvania County and Caroline County

Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on I-95 southbound between mile markers 117 and 108, near the Safety Rest Area at Ladysmith. Mobile operation to install pavement markers. 

I-95 Northbound

Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 133 (Route 17), City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County

Monday – Friday,  9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound between Exit 130 (Route 3) and Exit 133 (Route 17) area. Crews will collect soil samples for the I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Exit 133 (Route 17) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 4:30 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound to allow crews to gather soil samples for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 140 (Courthouse Road), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 4:30 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound for pipe inspections associated with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Exit 143 (Garrisonville Road) to Exit 148 (Quantico Marine Corps Base), Stafford County

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m – 4:30 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound for work zone barrier installation and pipe inspections associated with the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

Stafford County

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Single lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound from Garrisonville Road to the Prince William County line. Road shoulder and drainage maintenance. Mobile operation.

Route 17 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Alternating single closures near the I-95 overpasses. Crews are removing work platforms from a new I-95 northbound overpass under construction. This work is part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

 Route 17 Southbound

Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. and Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Overnight, alternating single closures near I-95 overpasses. Crews are removing work platforms from new I-95 northbound overpass under construction. This work is part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Route 17 Northbound and Southbound at Lendall Lane

Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. Route 17 will be reduced to a single northbound and southbound lane near the Lendall Lane intersection. Permit work for commercial development. Pavement milling.

Wednesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Route 17 reduced to a single northbound and southbound lane near the Lendall Lane intersection. Permit work for commercial development. Concrete median construction.

Route 17 Southbound

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Route 17 southbound right turn lane to Sanford Drive will close each day as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road)

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. A flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic on Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road) between Route 1 and Courthouse Road for pavement repair.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road) Area

Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Crews are working on final construction activities as part of the Exit 140 diverging diamond interchange and Courthouse Road widening project. Expect brief delays and intermittent flagging operations with alternating, one-way traffic at the following locations:

  • Courthouse Road, between Austin Ridge Drive and Shields Drive
  • Courthouse Road, between Cedar Lane and the I-95 interchange
  • Winding Creek Road

Surface Treatment

Tuesday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be resurfacing multiple state-maintained routes using surface treatment. Motorists should be alert for one-way, alternating traffic directed by flagging crews on the following routes:

Route 663 (Coakley Lane)

  • Route 719 (William and Mary Lane)
  • Route 798 and Route 799 (England Run Lane)
  • Route 1430 (Timothy Lane)

Vista Woods subdivision

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving multiple state-maintained routes in the subdivision. Paving work in the neighborhood will be underway through late June, weather permitting. Motorists should be alert for one-way, alternating traffic directed by flagging crews.

City of Fredericksburg

Route 1 and Princess Anne Street

Monday – Tuesday, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect intermittent turn lane and shoulder closures at the Route 1 and Princess Anne Street intersection as crews prepare to install a new, future traffic pattern as part of the Chatham Bridge project. No changes will go into effect until Monday, June 22, when the Chatham Bridge closes to traffic.

Route 3 Business at Chatham Bridge

Friday, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on Chatham Bridge. Crews are preparing to install an upcoming road closure and detour at the bridge. Chatham Bridge closes to traffic at 5 a.m. Monday, June 22. The bridge will remain closed through October 2021 for an improvement project. Signs will guide motorists along the detour route.

 Spotsylvania County

Route 609 (Thornton Rolling Road)

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 17 (Mills Drive) and Caroline County line for pavement repair and paving. Motorists should follow direction from flagging crews and anticipate brief delays.

Route 610 (Elys Ford Road)

Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 3 and Route 616 (U.S. Ford Road) for pavement repair and paving.

Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road)

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect one-way, alternating traffic west of the River Road intersection. Crews are resurfacing the road with surface treatment. Follow direction from flagging crews.

 Route 621 (Orange Plank Road)

Tuesday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 3 and Brock Road. Motorists should follow direction from flagging crew. Crews will be patching, paving and line-striping in the work zone.

Route 639 (River Road)

Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Roadside mowing. Motorists should expect one-way, alternating traffic on River Road between Bragg Road and Spotswood Furnace Road.

Route 1675 (Redground Road)

Monday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Road closure and detour for pipe replacement. Redground Road will be closed near the Roslyn Road intersection. Motorists should follow the posted detour route.

Caroline County

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Roadside mowing along Route 1 in Caroline between Hanover and Spotsylvania counties. Drivers are advised to slow down and be alert to slow-moving equipment in the road median and along the shoulder.

South Main Street

Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sidewalk repair on South Main Street in the Town of Bowling Green between between Chase Street and Gill Street. Crews will restore damaged sections of sidewalk curb, gutter and entrances, and to eliminate tripping hazards. Work underway through mid-June 2020.

Route 653 (Burruss Lane)

Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Roadside mowing. Motorists should expect one-way, alternating traffic on Burruss Lane between Route 301 and Signboard Road.

Route 662 (Gregory Road)

Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Roadside mowing. Motorists should expect one-way, alternating traffic on Gregory Road between Burruss Lane and Concord Road.

Drainage Maintenance

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Watch for one-way, alternating traffic on the following roads as crews remove debris and clean roadside ditches:

  • Route 652 (Signboard Road)
  • Route 664 (Bath Road)
  • Route 1403 (Quail Oak)

 

Gloucester County

Route 3/Route 14/Route 17 Business (Main Street)

Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Alternating single lane closures. Crews will be preparing for an intersection improvement project starting construction in September 2020.

King George County

Route 301

Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Alternating single lane closures at the intersection with Route 607 (Port Conway Road) and Route 625 (Salem Church Road). Crews will be installing equipment for a future traffic signal.

King and Queen County

Route 14

Sunday – Wednesday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 14 near the Route 33 intersection for milling and paving operations.

Route 14

Friday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closure on Route 14 over Heartquake Creek for bridge repairs. The bridge is located approximately 9 miles north of the Route 33 intersection.

Route 721 (Newtown Road)

Monday Thursday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 721 (Newtown Road) between Route 619 (Owens Mill Road) and Route 639 (Eastern View Road) for bridge repairs.

King William County (Town of West Point)

Route 30

Sunday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 30 between Eltham Bridge and 18th Street for milling and paving operations.

Route 33

Sunday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 33 between the Lord Delaware Bridge and Main Street for milling and paving operations.

Road Resurfacing

Friday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Expect flagging and mobile operations on various streets in the Town of West Point for application of slurry seal. Drivers may experience brief delays at the following locations:

  • Route 1024 (Harvey Lane)
  • Route 1035 (Town Centre Drive)

Mathews County

 

Route 14

Sunday – Monday, 7 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating lane closures for milling and paving between Main Street and Buckley Hall Road.

 

Route 198

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic for installation of pavement markings and shoulder stone following recent paving between Cricket Hill Road and Route 14.

 

Route 611 (Church Street)

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating lane closures for milling and paving between Main Street and Glebe Road.

 

Northumberland County

 

Route 630 (Walnut Point Road)

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. One-way, alternating lane closures on Walnut Point Road between Route 360 and Route 629 (Font Hill Road). Crews will be applying slurry seal to improve the travel surface for motorists.

 

Road Resurfacing

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect one-way, alternating traffic on various routes in Northumberland County to apply crews to apple surface treatment. Drivers may encounter brief delays at the following locations:

 

  • Route 649 (Lighthouse View Drive)
  • Route 687 and Route 772 (Devils Wood Yard Road)
  • Route 835 (Twin Cove Lane)

 

Richmond County

 

Route 3 (Historyland Highway) 

Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures on Route 3 (Historyland Highway) between Folly Neck Road and Maon Road to allow crews to apply pavement markers.

Essex County

 

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road)

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road) is closed over Piscataway Creek for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is located between Route 642 (Purkins Road) and Route 622 (Latanes Mill Road). Detour signs are posted along the recommended nine-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in November 2020.

 

Gloucester County and Middlesex County

 

Route 17 Southbound over Dragon Run

Route 17 southbound is reduced to a single lane for a bridge rehabilitation project over Dragon Run. The bridge is located at the county line between Gloucester County and Middlesex County. Project estimated completion is August 2021.

 

King George County

 

Route 301 at Bennion Road and Owens Drive

Construction began June 1 to lengthen several turn lanes on Route 301 in King George County at the intersection with one of the entrances to the Naval Support Facility South Potomac at Dahlgren. The project will be finished in November 2020.

 

King and Queen County

 

Route 617 (Exol Road)

Route 617 (Exol Road) is closed to traffic at the bridge over Exol Swamp while crews replace the structurally deficient bridge. Detour signs are posted along the 8 mile detour around the closure. The bridge will remain closed until November 2020. Click here for the recommended detour route.

 

Route 619 (Owens Mill Road)

Route 619 (Owens Mill Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project over Rickenaw Creek. Detour signs are posted along the recommended 10-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date, which has been extended from May 2020 to July 31, 2020.

 

King William County

 

Route 632 (Mount Olive-Cohoke Road)

A portion of Route 632 (Mount Olive-Cohoke Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. Detour signs are posted along the recommended six-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in November 2020.

 

Route 662 (Sharon Road)

A portion of Sharon Road is closed for reconstruction following damage from Tropical Storm Michael. A project to reconstruct a slope and replace a culvert will be advertised to potential bidders in summer 2020. The road is anticipated to reopen to traffic by the end of 2020.

 

Spotsylvania County

 

Route 1387 (Loriella Park Drive)

Route 1387 (Loriella Park Drive) is closed to through traffic between Ascot Circle and Leavells Road through mid-July 2020 for a drainage pipe replacement project. Detour signs are posted to guide motorists around the closed portion of Loriella Park Drive, which is located approximately 300 feet east of Ascot Circle.

 

Stafford County

 

Route 1 at Potomac Creek

Construction began June 1 on a project to replace the Route 1 bridge over Potomac Creek in Stafford County. Route 1 will continue to have four travel lanes open during the project, with only periodic single lane closures required. The new bridge will be complete in July 2022.
