The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says a skimming device was located and removed from a gas pump at the Fasmart located at 5022 Plank Road.
Credit card skimming devices can be attached externally or hidden internally on gas pumps, ATMs, and other machines that read and gather your card information through the magnetic strip. Hidden cameras are sometimes utilized to obtain a PIN number or it could be transferred via Bluetooth.
Authorities say when using your card be mindful of loose or protruding parts, different color or material, or anything that may look suspicious. Also, remember to cover your hand when entering your PIN number. Please check your credit card statements for signs of fraudulent activity.
