by | Aug 21, 2020 | Police and Fire

A former Stafford County resident was arrested earlier this year in California and charged with a variety of sex crimes, including four counts of rape.

Another victim came forward last month and provided information on a sexual assault which occurred in 2017 while the suspect lived in Stafford County. The suspect was identified as 37-year old Mark Neeley, II, of Temecula, California. Neeley had lived in Stafford County while serving with the United States Marine Corps.

Neeley was directly indicted by a Stafford County Grand Jury on August 3rd for one count of object sexual penetration. Neeley is being held at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in California on his charges there.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been a victim to contact Detective K.W. McBride at 540-658-4400.
