I-95 Southbound

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. and Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure near the Exit 140 interchange for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project. Crews will be installing work zone barrier.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17) FULL STOPS

Wednesday – Friday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. I-95 will be reduced to a single lane, with intermittent full traffic stops on I-95 southbound for up to 15 minutes between midnight and 3 a.m. early Thursday and early Friday. Crews will be moving a crane for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17)

Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Single lane closure. Installation of new overhead sign. Improvements are part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 133 (Route 17)

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. and Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project. Crews will be installing work zone barrier.

Stafford County

Route 1 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 1 northbound at the Potomac Creek bridge replacement project site, which is located between Centreport Parkway and Potomac Creek Lane.

Route 218 (White Oak Road)

Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Milling and paving. Expect travel delays. One-way, alternating traffic on White Oak Road directed by a flagging crew between the intersection with Deacon Road/Cool Spring Road and just west of Route 606 (Ferry Road).

Route 612 (Hartwood Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Mowing. Motorists should slow down and stay alert for mobile single lane closures on Hartwood Road between Route 17 and the Fauquier County line.

Route 628 (Ramoth Church Road)

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drivers should expect delays on Ramoth Church Road between the I-95 overpass to just prior to the Route 630 (Courthouse Road) intersection for paving and pavement marking.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road) and Hospital Center Boulevard

Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closures on Courthouse Road and Hospital Center Boulevard between Route 1 and Austin Ridge Drive. Crews will be installing work zone barrier as part of the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension.

Old Courthouse Road

Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closures on Old Courthouse Road between Route 1 and Hospital Center Boulevard. Crews will be installing work zone barrier as part of the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension.

City of Fredericksburg

William Street

Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Milling, patching and paving to resurface William Street between Route 3 (Blue and Gray Parkway) and College Avenue. Expect mobile single lane closures overnight. Work will continue weekly into September as crews resurface William Street between Route 3 and Washington Avenue and apply new pavement markings. City of Fredericksburg Public Works Department project.

Spotsylvania County

Route 208 (Courthouse Road)

Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Mowing and vegetation control. Motorists should be alert for mobile single lane closures between Route 1 and Route 613 (Brock Road).

Route 612 (Stubbs Bridge Road)

Sunday  – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Alternating single lane closure for repairs to the bridge over Lake Anna.

Route 1299 (Twin Springs Drive)

Wednesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Drainage pipe repair. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 620 (Harrison Road) and the road’s end.

Route 1811 (Brixton Road)

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Drainage pipe repair. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 1810 (Homestead Drive) and Route 1812 (Winslow Court).

Pothole Patching

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Pothole patching. Motorists should be alert for mobile pavement repair work zones in the following locations:

  • Route 608 (Benchmark Road and Massaponax Church Road)
  • Route 673 (Piedmont Drive)

Caroline County

Route 2

Thursday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Vegetation control. Mobile lane closures between the Spotsylvania County line and Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard).

Route 30

Sunday – Monday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Mobile pavement marking. One-way, alternating traffic between Route 652 (Signboard Road) and Route 301.

Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike)

Monday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Vegetation control. Mobile lane closures between Route 30 (Dawn Boulevard) and Route 721 (Sparta Road).

Mowing

Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be mowing at the following locations this week. Motorists should slow down and be alert for mobile lane closures:

Route 617 (Carltons Corner Road)

Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Drivers should expect alternating single lane closures on Route 617 between Route 616 and Route 14 for surface treatment. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

Route 622 (Dirt Bridge Road)

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Alternating, one-way traffic on Dirt Bridge Road between Regent Road and Route 3 for placement of shoulder stone.

 

Westmoreland County

 

Route 202 (Cople Highway)

Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Alternating, one-way traffic on Route 202 between Route 3 and the Nomini Creek Bridge for placement of shoulder stone.

Caroline County

 

Route 207 Southbound Bridge Replacement

Route 207 is reduced to a single northbound and southbound lane at the bridge over the Mattaponi River. Traffic is traveling in the northbound lanes while the southbound bridge is closed for a replacement project. The new southbound bridge is anticipated to open to traffic in July 2021, with all construction complete by September 2021.

 

Essex County

 

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road)

Route 620 (Dunbrooke Road) is closed over Piscataway Creek for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is located between Route 642 (Purkins Road) and Route 622 (Latanes Mill Road). Detour signs are posted along the recommended 9-mile detour route. The road will remain closed until its anticipated completion date in November 2020.

 

City of Fredericksburg

 

Route 3 Business at Chatham Bridge

The Chatham Bridge is closed to traffic for an improvement project. Drivers should follow the posted detour signs directing traffic around the bridge closure. The bridge will reopen to traffic in October 2021, and all construction work will be complete by April 2022.

 

Gloucester County

 

Pedestrian Improvements on Route 17 Southbound at Gloucester Point

Construction is underway on a project to build sidewalk and crosswalks along Route 17 southbound between Lafayette Heights Drive and Bellehaven Drive. Motorists should be alert for construction along the shoulder during daytime hours on weekdays and periodic single lane closures. Project estimated completion is January 2021.

 

Pedestrian Improvements at Route 17 and Route 17 Business (Main Street) 

Construction is underway on a project to build sidewalk, crosswalks, pedestrian refuge islands, and new pedestrian crossing equipment at the northern intersection of Route 17 and Route 17 Business, and at Route 17 and McFadden Way. Motorists should be alert for construction during daytime hours on weekdays, as well as for periodic single lane closures and temporary traffic pattern changes. Project estimated completion is January 2021.

 

Gloucester County and Middlesex County

 

Route 17 Southbound over Dragon Run

Route 17 southbound is reduced to a single lane for a bridge rehabilitation project over Dragon Run. The bridge is located at the county line between Gloucester County and Middlesex County. Project estimated completion is August 2021.

 

King George County

 

Route 301 at Bennion Road and Owens Drive

Construction began June 1 to lengthen several turn lanes on Route 301 in King George County at the intersection with one of the entrances to the Naval Support Activity South Potomac at Dahlgren. The project will be finished in November 2020.

 

King and Queen County

 

Route 617 (Exol Road)

Route 617 (Exol Road) is closed to traffic at the bridge over Exol Swamp while crews replace the structurally deficient bridge. Detour signs are posted along the 8-mile detour around the closure. The bridge will remain closed until November 2020. Click here for the recommended detour route.

 

King William County

 

Route 30 and Route 360 Intersection Improvement

Construction is underway to improve the intersection of Route 30 and Route 360. The project will build dedicated right and left turn lanes and through lanes for eastbound Route 30, and will modify turn lanes on Route 360. A sidewalk will be built along Route 30 to allow pedestrians to cross Route 360. The project will be completed in June 2021.

 

Route 662 (Sharon Road)

A portion of Sharon Road is closed for reconstruction following damage from Tropical Storm Michael. A project to reconstruct a slope and replace a culvert will be advertised to potential bidders in summer 2020. The road is anticipated to reopen to traffic by the end of 2020.

 

Stafford County

 

Route 1 at Potomac Creek

Construction began June 1 on a project to replace the Route 1 bridge over Potomac Creek in Stafford County. Route 1 will continue to have four travel lanes open during the project, with only periodic single lane closures required. The new bridge will be complete in July 2022.
