Rhoadesville man arrested in Spotsy after gun displayed during altercation

From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

On August 27, 2020 at approximately 3:45pm, deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office responded to 4256 Plank Road for a reported robbery with a weapon.  Upon their arrival, two victims stated that they were selling items and that the suspect, later identified as 62 year-old Howard Waugh of Rhoadesville,  bought an item from them.

At some point the victims and the suspect got into a verbal altercation in the parking lot.  During this exchange, Waugh displayed a gun, pointed it at the victims and demanded his money.   Deputies found Waugh sitting in the outside sitting area of Durango’s Bar and Grill.  A gun was not initially found however the victims stated that they had seen Waugh walk behind the business at one point prior to deputies arriving.  Additional deputies along with a canine found a gun fitting the description the victims gave behind the business.

Waugh was arrested and charged with Robbery with a firearm, attempted robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed weapon, concealed weapon violation in a restaurant and drunk in public.  Waugh is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
