Big drug bust in Spotsy: On-going investigation nets drugs, guns and cash

On September 2, members of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested 46 year-old Ronald Cotton (no fixed address) for Possession with the intent to distribute I/II substance x2, Possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine (more than 100 grams), possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I/II substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Cotton is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The on-going narcotics investigation concluded with a traffic stop by Deputy W. Wright and his canine partner Rocky in the area of Courthouse Road and the Courthouse bypass at approximately 7pm.
A canine sniff was conducted which led to the finding of:
–5.5 kilograms of methamphetamine
–a quarter pound of mushrooms
–a quarter ounce of MDMA
–a bulk quantity of LSD, marijuana, edible THC
–$9574.00 in cash
–a handgun in the vehicle.
A subsequent search warrant of Cotton’s RV located at a local marina near Lake Anne led to seizing two AR-15s, an AK-47, a handgun and additional narcotics.
The total street value for the seized narcotics is approximately $600,000.
