Rappahannock YMCA Turkey Trot going virtual
The Rappahannock Area YMCA has announced that the annual 5k Turkey Trot will be held as a virtual event, following the Governor’s Executive Order due to the rising numbers of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual YMCA Turkey Trot will include virtual fun and engaging activities on the morning of Thanksgiving for the whole family.
“Our top priority continues to be safeguarding the health of the community, as well as our staff, participants, volunteers, spectators, and supporters, “said Barney Reiley, CEO of the Rappahannock Area YMCA. “This year has presented many challenges. The Y continues to do what it does best; adapting its programs to respond to urgent needs. We remain ever grateful to the donors, community foundations, United Way and government partners who provided resources and to the majority of our members who stayed with us so that we can continue to Here. For Good.”
Participants in the Virtual YMCA Turkey Trot will receive a shirt and runner’s bib as well as fun, interactive contests the morning of Thanksgiving. There will be two 5k marked courses at the Ron Rosner YMCA and the Massad Branch (behind the water park) that runners can use, if they want, during the week of Thanksgiving. Fuel stations will be provided on Thanksgiving morning from 7:30-10:30 at these two branches.
Runners can register now until November 25th www.family-ymca.org/turkeytrot– Extra t-shirts are being ordered but not guaranteed. T-shirt orders were due November 10th. Packet pick up will be November 24 and 25th at the Massad Branch, 212 Butler Rd. 8am-10am, 4pm-6pm.
