Spotsy Volunteer Fire Department providing File of Life cards

by | Jan 2, 2021 | Police and Fire

From the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department:

The Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be providing “File of Life” cards to the citizens of Spotsylvania County. You will start seeing these cards on each apparatus at every Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department station in the very near future.

The File of Life card is a quick and easy way for first responders to get needed medical information that may not otherwise be readily available due to the nature of the call. It provides life saving information to include medications taken, current medical conditions, and emergency contact information.

The “File of Life” magnet will display the SVFD logo. Members of SVFD and SVRS are encouraged to leave a File of Life card, where needed, at citizen’s homes should you determine that this information would have been critical to the care of the citizen. Encourage the citizen to fill out the form, in pencil, and place it on their refrigerator so that it is easily located.

Ensure they know the benefits of keeping the information up-to-date. Please be mindful of the distribution of these cards as our intent is to ensure that the households with the most need receive them first. Should you have any questions please contact Chief Williams, SVFD.
