The Stafford Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest of a shooting suspect.   On January 1 at 3:22 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 200 block of Warrenton Road for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Deputies rendered first aid until rescue units arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.
Deputies responding to the shooting observed a vehicle leaving the area.   During a stop, 28-year old Da’Jon Mickens of Fredericksburg was identified as one of the occupants.
Detectives found evidence linking Mickens to the shooting. On January 6 at 5:11 p.m., the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence Mickens was known to stay at in the 200 block of Wood Landing Road. Mickens was inside the home and taken into custody without incident. During a search of the home, deputies found a firearm and narcotics.
Mickens is charged with malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additional charges are pending. Mickens is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
