I-95 Northbound

 

Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville Road) to Exit 148 (Quantico)

Thursday, noon – 3:30 p.m. Single northbound lane closure between mile markers 145 and 148. Material deliveries and pile driving for the  I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) project.

 

Stafford County

 

Route 1 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 1 northbound for the Potomac Creek bridge replacement project located between Centreport Parkway and Potomac Creek lane.

 

Route 1 Southbound

Sunday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closure at the bridge over Accokeek Creek, located between the Courthouse Road and American Legion Road intersections for bridge repair.

 

Route 3 Westbound

Monday – Friday, 8 p.m.- 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure on Route 3 westbound between Cool Springs Road and Chatham Heights Boulevard for work on the bridge over the CSX railroad.

 

Route 17 Southbound

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Right lane closure on Route 17 southbound near Route 1001 (Melcher Drive) for guardrail repair.

 

Route 628 (Eskimo Hill Road)

Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct traffic on Route 628 eastbound between Route 608 and Route 619 for a routine inspection of the bridge over CSX railroad.

 

Route 626 (Leeland Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Leeland Road near Morton Road/Forbes Street for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

 

Route 648 (Shelton Shop Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Shelton Shop Road at the Potomac Run bridge for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

 

Pothole Patching

Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2  p.m. Crews will be repairing potholes at the following locations. Drivers should expect lane closures in the mobile work zone:

 

  • Route 3 (Kings Highway)
  • Route 17 (Warrenton Road)

 

Spotsylvania County

 

Route 17 (Mills Drive)

Monday – Tuesday and Thursday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Drivers on Route 17 northbound and southbound should expect alternating shoulder closures on Route 17 between Glenwood Drive and Germanna Point Drive for tree trimming.

 

Route 613 (Brock Road)

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic in work zone between Route 621 (Orange Plank Road) and Route 208 (Courthouse Road) for sign installation.

 

Route 200

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 200 located just east of Smith Station Road for guardrail repair.

 

Secondary Road Maintenance Activities

Wednesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be working along the roadside to clean drainage facilities and repair shoulders at the following locations:

 

  • Route 2 (Tidewater Trail) – Primary Route
  • Route 621 (Orange Plank Road)

Caroline County

 

Route 1

Tuesday – Wednesday, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Drivers will encounter a mobile lane closure on Route 1 between Green Road and Durrette Road for a traffic signal pole inspection.

 

Route 301

Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Drivers will encounter a mobile lane closure on Route 301 at Old Dawn Road for a traffic signal pole inspection.

 

Route 207

Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 207 southbound between the I-95 interchange and the Town of Bowling Green for a routine inspection of the southbound bridge over Polecat Creek.

 

Route 600 (Frog Level Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. One-way, alternating traffic for guardrail repair around one mile east of the intersection with Route 601.

 

Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Nelson Hill Road at the bridge over the Mattaponi River, near Route 601, for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

Essex County

 

Route 609

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating single lane closure on Route 609 just west of Route 17 for guardrail repairs.

 

Gloucester County

 

Route 3/14 and Route 17 Business (Main Street) Intersection

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Single lane closures at intersection for paving and traffic signal work. Lane closures will continue on this schedule weekly through Friday, Jan. 29. Construction work for an intersection improvement project underway. Expect delays and allow extra travel time. Travelers should follow direction from flagging crew. Project completion scheduled for Feb. 2021.

 

Route 17

Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Right turn lane and shoulder closures on Route 17 northbound and southbound between intersection of Fiddlers Green Road and Belroi Road. Construction is part of pedestrian improvement project to add sidewalk and pedestrian crossing signal equipment.

 

Route 17

Monday – Tuesday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Drivers should expect a mobile lane closure on Route 17 between Lafayette Heights Drive and Camp Okee Drive for signal pole inspection.

 

Route 17 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Single lane closure of Route 17 northbound nine miles south of Route 14 for guardrail repair.

 

Route 17 Southbound

Monday – Saturday, 12:01 a.m. – midnight. Single lane closure and shoulder closure on Route 17 southbound between Route 615 in Middlesex and Route 198 in Gloucester for road improvement project.

 

Gloucester County and King and Queen

 

Route 14

Beginning next week work will begin on a project that will replace the Route 14 (Buena Vista Road/Adner Road) bridge over Poropotank Creek located at the Gloucester County and King and Queen County line.  On Wednesday, Jan. 20 through traffic on Route 14 will be detoured for approximately six months. Motorists are advised to follow the recommended detour route:

 

  • Route 33 (Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway)
  • Route 17

King George County

 

Route 301 Southbound

Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single lane closure on Route 301 southbound near the Nice/Middleton Bridge. Utility relocation for the Nice/Middleton Bridge replacement project.

 

Route 301 Southbound

Monday, 9 a.m. – noon. Crews will be repairing the asphalt along the shoulder on Route 301 southbound between Barnsfield Road and Roseland Road. All travel lanes will remain open.

 

Route 301 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating single lane closure on Route 301 northbound just south of Davis Drive for guardrail repairs.

 

Route 206

Wednesday, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Drivers should expect a mobile lane closure on Route 206 between 14th Street and Potomac Drive for traffic signal pole inspection.

 

 

Town of West Point

 

Eltham Bridge

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mobile, single eastbound lane closure on Route 30/33 for bridge maintenance work. The Eltham Bridge is located between the Town of West Point and New Kent County.

 

Northumberland County

 

Route 200 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Route 200 northbound near Crosshills Road for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

 

 Route 360 Westbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Alternating lane closures on Route 360 westbound near Locksley Hall Road for guardrail repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone.

 

Richmond County and Town of Tappahannock

 

Route 360 over the Rappahannock River: Downing Bridge

Tuesday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. One-way, alternating traffic on Route 360 on the Downing Bridge over the Rappahannock River between Richmond County and the Town of Tappahannock. Bridge maintenance to repair bridge deck, bridge joints. Traffic will be directed by automated flagging assistance devices.

 

Westmoreland County

 

Route 3

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Single lane closure and shoulder closure on Route 3 between Flat Iron Road and Winter Harbor Road. Construction activity for milling and paving along the road shoulder as part of the Route 3 Passing Lanes project.

Caroline County

 

Route 207 Southbound Bridge Replacement

Route 207 is reduced to a single northbound and southbound lane at the bridge over the Mattaponi River. Traffic is traveling in the northbound lanes while the southbound bridge is closed for a replacement project. The new southbound bridge is anticipated to open to traffic in Sept. 2021.

 

Route 677 (Camp Road) Detour

Route 677 (Camp Road) will be closed to through traffic between Route 694 (Courtney Road) and Route 693 (Herring Creek Road) at the bridge over Herring Creek beginning Monday, Nov. 30. Crews are replacing existing drainage pipes with a slightly larger box culvert. Motorists should follow signs along the posted detour route, which will be in place for approximately 12 weeks, into early 2021.

 

Route 743 (Clifton Road) over South River

Construction began in December 2020 to replace a structurally deficient timber bridge on Clifton Road over the South River. The existing bridge is open during construction. The new bridge will be a concrete structure, and will allow heavier vehicles to cross. The new bridge is scheduled to open in Oct. 2021.

 

City of Fredericksburg

 

Route 3 Business at Chatham Bridge

The Chatham Bridge is closed to traffic for an improvement project. Drivers should follow the posted detour signs directing traffic around the bridge closure. The bridge will reopen to traffic in October 2021, and all construction work will be complete by April 2022.

 

Gloucester County

 

Route 3/14 and Route 17 Business (Main Street) Intersection Improvement

Project to reduce driver delay and improve pedestrian access at intersection. After construction, Route 17 Business traffic will have dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes when turning onto Route 3/14. On Route 3/14, the traffic pattern approaching Route 17 Business will change to allow for dual left turns southbound. One of the left turn lanes will become a shared lane, and will allow traffic to turn left, proceed straight across, or turn right. New sidewalks with handicapped-accessible ramps, crosswalks, and traffic signal equipment for pedestrian crossings will be installed. Project estimated completion is Feb. 2021.

 

Pedestrian Improvements on Route 17 Southbound at Gloucester Point

Construction is underway on a project to build sidewalk and crosswalks along Route 17 southbound between Lafayette Heights Drive and Bellehaven Drive. Motorists should be alert for construction along the shoulder during daytime hours on weekdays and periodic single lane closures. Project estimated completion is Jan. 2021.

 

Pedestrian Improvements at Route 17 and Route 17 Business (Main Street) 

Construction is underway on a project to build sidewalk, crosswalks, pedestrian refuge islands, and new pedestrian crossing equipment at the northern intersection of Route 17 and Route 17 Business, and at Route 17 and McFadden Way. Motorists should be alert for construction during daytime hours on weekdays, as well as for periodic single lane closures and temporary traffic pattern changes. Project estimated completion is Jan. 2021.

 

Gloucester County and Middlesex County

 

Route 17 Southbound over Dragon Run

Route 17 southbound is reduced to a single lane for a bridge rehabilitation project over Dragon Run. The bridge is located at the county line between Gloucester County and Middlesex County. Project estimated completion is Aug. 2021.

 

King William County

 

Route 30 and Route 360 Intersection Improvement

Construction is underway to improve the intersection of Route 30 and Route 360. The project will build dedicated right and left turn lanes and through lanes for eastbound Route 30, and will modify turn lanes on Route 360. A sidewalk will be built along Route 30 to allow pedestrians to cross Route 360. The project will be completed in June 2021.

 

Route 608 (Locust Hill Road)

A portion of Route 608 (Locust Hill Road) over Dorrell Creek is closed to allow crews to replace two large pipes. Locust Hill Road is closed to through traffic between Route 609 (Smokey Road) and Route 628 (Dorrell Road). Construction will be underway through early 2021. Signs are posted along the recommended detour route.

 

Route 662 (Sharon Road)

A portion of Sharon Road is closed for reconstruction following damage from Tropical Storm Michael. A project to reconstruct a slope and replace a culvert will be advertised to potential bidders in spring 2021.

 

 Stafford County

 

Route 1 at Potomac Creek

Construction is underway to replace the Route 1 bridge over Potomac Creek in Stafford County. Route 1 will continue to have four travel lanes open during the project, with only periodic single lane closures required. The new bridge will be complete in July 2022.

 

Spotsylvania County

 

Route 17 Overpass Replacement and Widening

Construction started in December 2020 on a project to replace the existing two-lane interstate overpass on Route 17 with a four-lane bridge. Route 17 will be widened to four travel lanes to just east of the Hospital Boulevard/Germanna Point Drive intersection. Sidewalk, a shared-use path, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be added as part of the project. Improvements will be completed in Feb. 2024.

 

Westmoreland County

 

Route 3 Passing Lanes

Construction began Jan. 4 on a project to build eastbound and westbound passing lanes over a 1.5-mile segment of Route 3. When work is complete, Route 3 will become a four-lane undivided road from north of Route 639 (Winter Harbor Road) to east of Route 624 (Longwood Road), with new turn lanes at key intersections. The project will be complete in late Dec. 2021.
