The Stafford Sheriff’s Office says a 25-year old county man has been charged with second degree murder after a Friday night shooting.  Kevin Monsivais is also charged with using a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting in an occupied dwelling. The victim is identified as Jareal Marryshow–a 25-year old man from New York.  But authorities say the two had been living in the same apartment.
Authorities say they went to the apartment Friday night for a reported shooting.  Initial information provided to the deputies indicated the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Deputies and detectives worked throughout the night collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses and determined this was a homicide, and not a suicide.  But based on an investigation, detectives changed the cause of death.
Monsivais was taken into custody late Saturday night with the assistance of Fredericksburg Police at the Quality Inn on Plank Road. He’s being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
