Body found in Spotsylvania. County teen charged

A Spotsylvania teenager has been charged in connection with a homicide discovered Monday night in western Spotsylvania.  Sheriff’s Major Troy Skebo says the body of 20-year old Dylan Whetzel of Stafford was discovered late Monday in the woods off Pamunkey and Finney Roads.

19-year old Brennan Thomas of Spotsylvania is charged defilement of a dead body, conspiracy to defile a dead body, concealment of a dead body, conspiracy to conceal a dead body, concealing evidence and conspiracy to conceal evidence.  Thomas is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

Skebo says detectives are continuing to investigate and no further information will be released at this time.  He says other subjects may be charged as the investigation continues.  Skebo says the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office extends deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Whetzel.
