by | Apr 12, 2021 | Traffic

From VDOT:

Crews will continue installing the new steel beams on the future Interstate 95 southbound bridge spanning Route 17 in Stafford County as part of the  I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
The work requires intermittent full traffic stops on Route 17.
Starting at 8 p.m. Monday night, drivers should expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 17 between Sanford Drive and Short Street to get equipment into place ahead of the beam lifts.
All Route 17 northbound traffic will be stopped up to 30 minutes at a time between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. each evening to lift and secure the bridge beams into place.
Weather permitting, lane closures on Route 17 are scheduled at the following times:
Monday, April 12 – Wednesday, April 14
  • 8 p.m. – 10:59 p.m. – Single lane closures
  • 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. – Full traffic stop up to 30 minutes on Route 17 northbound
  • 3 a.m. – 6:59 a.m.  –  Single lane closures
  • 7 a.m. – All lanes open.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
