Officer involved shooting in Spotsy

State Police are trying to figure out what provoked a deputy to pull the trigger on a man in Spotsylvania. Authorities were called to a residence early yesterday morning and found a man walking away from the home on Catharpin Road. Authorities say the deputy tried to engage the victim before firing his service weapon and striking the man. Medics rushed the victim to the hospital, and details have not been released on why the deputy opened fire. Virginia State Police are investigating.
