by | May 19, 2021 | Health & Wellness

With the support of staff and providers from local pediatricians, Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) will expand operations to offer COVID-19 vaccines to area children, ages 12–15, this Saturday at the Fick Center. Appointments are required. Parents may register their children here. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child(ren) inside the clinic.

Mary Washington Healthcare is proud to deliver the same excellent customer service and safe environment for area teens that the community has come to expect at its vaccine clinic. By partnering with local pediatricians, parents and guardians can also be confident the clinical expertise will be present to address the unique physical and emotional needs of the younger population.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration expanded the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) to include adolescents 12 through 15 years of age. The doses being administered at Saturday’s event will be the Pfizer vaccine.
