Home of the Week: Gem in Downtown Fredericksburg
From Amy Cherry-Taylor
Built in 1895, its latest owners have resided at 211 Princess Anne Street since 2019. During their two years under its roof, they have made a number of incredible enhancements to bring the residence that much more into the 21st century. These upgrades span its core components (a new HVAC system installed in ’19!), a new washer/dryer set-up, a totally remodeled kitchen, and an all-new addition, which adds two new rooms to the home.
Before we dig into its layout, let’s talk about the location! With this home, you are located within the Historic District and are less than three blocks from the Downtown Fredericksburg Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station, providing a totally seamless commute to D.C. and all points in between. The shops, restaurants, and cultural offerings of Downtown Fredericksburg, as well as the riverside City Dock Park, are all within blocks, too.
As spring and summer approaches, you’ll want to be outside and enjoy the lifestyle this home delivers. In addition to a sky blue-painted front porch, enjoy lounging in its fenced-in back yard, which includes a cozy firepit and patio, grilling area, shed and grassy area.
Before walking through the front door of the cream and khaki Victorian, appreciate the popping magenta door with historic allure. On the main level, a modern-meets historic charm awaits – its latest owners have painted its walls in neutral colors, added recessed lighting and original pinewood flooring runs throughout. Also, check out those plantation shutters!
Main level highlights include the living room with a unique tiled-over fireplace set-up, TV wiring and plenty of natural light; a dining room that may easily be used as an office; and, in between, the bedazzling kitchen! The kitchen has all-new marble countertops, new stainless-steel appliances and white, soft-close shaker cabinetry. The kitchen is anchored by a marble-clad peninsula with room for two stools.
Heading to the brand-new addition, two carpeted rooms with vaulted ceilings await. One has been used as a dedicated guest room and one as an office – each with plenty of closet space. Nearby is the recently completed full bath (completed just three months ago!). It has a white vanity, beautiful and gray/white tiled floor, an all-glass shower and new light fixtures. The laundry area rounds out the level (again, appreciate the new washer/dryer!).
Up the carpeted stairs, you’ll find the primary bedroom with a unique closet space and a nearby full bath – complete with a double-vanity sink and soft-close cabinetry.
211 Princess Anne Street simply appeals to all the senses. If you’re ready to settle into historic Downtown Fredericksburg living, this offering and the lifestyle it brings is more than ready for you! Call Amy Cherry Taylor at (703)577-0135 for more information or to schedule a showing!
