City Police investigate 4th of July shooting

From Fredericksburg Police:

Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:55 p.m., the Fredericksburg Police E-911 center received a call from a woman who reported she had been shot in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard. Communications Officers provided the victim with steps for self-aid while patrol officers responded to the incident.
Rescue arrived shortly after and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The victim, a 49-year-old woman, is in stable condition. Patrol officers set up a perimeter around the scene and began their investigation while a detective was requested to respond to the incident. K9 units from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office also responded to search for the suspect.
The investigation is active and ongoing. The Department will release more information as the investigation continues.
