PHOTOS: Starting today, King George Sheriff’s Office wearing black uniforms

From the King George Sheriff’s Office:

It is with bittersweet feelings that, starting July 12th, we at KGSO are saying goodbye to our traditional brown uniforms; a uniform style that, for decades, was synonymous with sheriff’s offices around the Commonwealth of Virginia. We have been proud to continue donning the traditional brown over the years. But due to decreased demand, vendors are starting to phase out the brown uniform color. Recognizing that drug forfeiture money was available to fund this change, KGSO moved to get ahead of the shortage without taxpayers having to foot the bill.
The uniforms may have changed, but our commitment to provide the highest standard of professional law enforcement service and protection for our community will continue.
Our badge remains unchanged as a symbol of public trust, which we hold in the highest regard. And we will continue to wear this badge proudly as we carry out our duties to preserve equality and justice for all those we serve.
