Fredericksburg Academy is seeking a confident, creative, and energetic leader to manage all aspects of FA’s Falcon Club program from August to May. The Falcon Club Director must possess compassionate people skills and solid management and organizational skills. This position reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.

Job Duties:

Ensure all Falcon Club students and Falcon Club staff are in a safe and nurturing environment
Staff Hiring
Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programs on all facets of recruiting, interviewing, processing background checks, and hiring Falcon Club staff
Staff Training
Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to provide the initial staff training at the start of the school year
Responsible for additional staff trainings throughout the school year, both for new staff and continuing education for current staff
Administrative
Must be able to ensure Falcon Club follows the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers from the Virginia Department of Education
Update the Falcon Club Policy & Procedures document yearly
Update the Falcon Club Team Member handbook yearly
Keep the Falcon Club webpages up to date on the FA website
Manage the online Falcon Club registration process
Scheduling
Ensure there are always enough staff present to meet the staff-to-children ratio requirements as listed in the Standards
Ensure there is always at least one individual present who meets the Program Leader requirements in the Standards
Programming
Provide guidance to Falcon Club staff to implement effective and appropriate activities for the students each day
Keep track of activity supplies throughout campus and convey ordering or repair needs to the Director of Auxiliary Programs
Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring proper use of FA facilities and equipment
Food service
Make sure Falcon Club has an appropriate supply of snacks for the students
Finance
Work with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to create and track yearly budgets
Holiday Break Camp, Winter Break Camp, and Spring Break Camp
Although marketed under Camp FA, these programs fall under Falcon Club’s VADOE licensing
Responsible for staffing these programs
Responsible for ensuring staff have appropriate programmatic plans for these programs
Should the Director choose to physically work these programs, an addendum to their compensation agreement will be provided for those hours
Communicate and interact appropriately and effectively with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times, and via phone and email
Memorizing all emergency procedures and enforce Falcon Club rules
Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to parents, team members, and the Director of Auxiliary Programs
Participate in FA Full Faculty meetings
Participate as needed in Lower School Faculty meetings
Work related travel: 1% (for off-site training programs)
Other Falcon Club related duties as assigned
General Qualifications:
Possess good English communication skills, both written and verbal (writing sample required)
Ability to solve problems and handle issues of a complicated / complex nature and create solutions to problems before they are presented to management
Use creativity and attention to detail while handling multiple tasks and meeting assigned deadlines
Reliable, ability to be on time and prepared
Ability to interpret policies and guidelines (with training)
Possess essential computer skills including email, excel, Google Docs/Sheets, word processing, and database management
Ability to lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
Be able to manage all personal care and mobility independently
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must pass two Background Checks (OBI fingerprint & CPS background check)
Enjoy working with Falcon Club staff and students and contributing to a pleasant work environment
Must be a self-starter and able to enhance FA’s mission

Position Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must meet at least one of the following Virginia Department of Education requirements:
1.     A graduate degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and six months of programmatic experience; or
2.     An endorsement or bachelor’s degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and one year of programmatic experience; or
3.     Forty-eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child-related subjects and one year of programmatic experience; or
4.     Meet #4, #5, or #6 of the Program Director qualifications in the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers (22VAC40-185-190).
Must be able to relate well to lower and middle school students, parents, staff, faculty, and administration
Must possess solid management and organizational skills
Current First Aid and age appropriate CPR training (preferred)
Medication Administration Training(MAT) (preferred)

Compensation:

TBD based on experience

Additional Information:

This position is: part-time exempt with the potential to be full-time exempt
Typical work schedule:
Monday through Friday
5 to 6 hours a day (negotiable)
