A 21-year old Spotsylvania man is charged in the murder of mother early Saturday in the Oak Grove subdivision. Mayor Troy Skebo tells us that Elijah Smith is charged with second degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police say 41-year old Latoya Acree was shot in the driveway of a home in the 61-hundred block of Pondoley Drive about 12:30am.
The Sheriff’s Office received calls from someone in the house and a neighbor. Smith was arrested without incident a short time later at a motel in the Four Mile Fork area.
Major Skebo says the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, but no other details are known.
