Police say Spotsy robbery victim fought back

From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

On 10/15/2021 at 9:00PM Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Bank of America ATM located in the 10300 block of Courthouse Rd in Spotsylvania County. Deputies arrived and found that a citizen was conducting a bank transaction at the ATM when he was approached by a male subject in a threatening manner who then began to assault the victim striking him several times.
The victim who is a concealed weapon permit holder drew his firearm and fired several shots at the suspect. The suspect ran quickly across Courthouse Rd in the direction of Mill Garden South Subdivision. Within minutes of the incident, the 911 Center received a call from a subject who said he was shot at while at the ATM.
Deputies determined that the male on 911 matched the description of the accused suspect. The suspect was taken into custody in the area of Hamway Drive in the Mill Garden South Subdivision. The victim sustained minor injuries during the assault and suspect did not have any injuries as a result of the shooting. Trey Khiry Turner was arrested for attempted robbery and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
