New technology to get Spotsy firefighters to you quicker

by | Nov 4, 2021 | Police and Fire

From Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management:

Last week, through a joint effort of the Spotsylvania Information Services Department, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Communications Center, and Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue, & Emergency Management, our public safety system made a huge leap forward in improving the service delivery to our community. We have implemented the use of a new state of the art computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system that has greater functionality to allow us all to serve you better, but also provides incident location, routing, and call notes in the hands of our personnel as they respond to your calls for help.
The new system uses automatic vehicle location (AVL) technology to make sure the closest, most appropriate units are dispatched to calls for help, based off their GPS locations.
We are all still adjusting to the new technology, and our partners are continuing to make adjustments and refinements to make sure it performs to our expectations. Additional functionality will eventually be rolled out that will provide even greater capabilities to serve our community, all with the goal of fulfilling our mission to help others.
