Central Rappahannock Regional Library issues statement in response to Spotsy book burning comments

by | Nov 17, 2021 | News

From the Central Rappahannock Regional Library:

Statement on Diversity and Censorship
Central Rappahannock Regional Library is dismayed by the recent events in our community that suggest the removal, banning and burning of certain books that some find offensive or inappropriate. We strongly believe that a challenged book should go through the established review process.
We believe in the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement.
We strongly support diversity in our community and in our collection.
We stand by our colleagues in the school libraries in our communities, now and in the future.
Martha Hutzel
Library Director
