#OptOutside at Virginia State Parks

Here at Virginia State Parks, we have a tradition of inviting families to opt outside the Friday following Thanksgiving rather than go Black Friday shopping.

Why #OptOutside?

  • Spending time in nature reduces stress.
  • Fallen leaves make wildlife and vistas easier to see.
  • The outdoors are a great setting to make family memories.

Where to go?

What to do once outside?

Share your #OptOutside experiences with us:

  • Tag our Virginia State Parks social media pages and use the hashtag #VAstateparks.
