A former Caroline County teacher, was found guilty of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor by the Caroline County, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor carries a maximum incarceration penalty of one year in jail.
The Caroline Sheriff’s Office says in a press release that the case stemmed from a citizen complaint, alleging inappropriate behaviors between Edward Gent and one of his juvenile Caroline County students. Charges were placed against Gent after an investigation conducted by Caroline investigators.
Gent was sentenced to serve eight months in jail by the Caroline County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Gent is also pending trial in Stafford County for the charges of aggravated sexual battery and  custodial indecent liberties with a minor.
Sheriff Lippa stated “I am thankful for the citizens who came forward with their concerns, initiating this investigation. I am also thankful for the dedicated work of the men and women of the Caroline County Sheriff’s office, and the cooperation of the Caroline County Public Schools. I am very pleased that the
juvenile victim, in this case, is reportedly doing very well. Although this case is very serious, this could have been much worse without those brave citizens who were willing to report their concerns to the Caroline Sheriff’s Office”.
