City teen arrested after gun and ammo found on him at Walker Grant

by | May 19, 2022 | Police and Fire

Fredericksburg Police say early Thursday morning, at about 7:40, officers responded to Walker Grant Middle School regarding a previously suspended student that trespassed on school property.

While talking with the 15 year old student, school administrators received a tip the student may have a firearm in his possession. The student was searched, and an unloaded pistol and three magazines, two of which contained ammunition, were found in his possession. Investigators say they are confident the student did not intend to use the firearm to hurt anyone.
The juvenile was taken into police custody and transported to the Fredericksburg Police Department where he was charged with larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property. The juvenile is at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center.

“Thanks to the collaboration between the school administration and the police department, we are fortunate this incident was resolved quickly and safely,” said Police Chief Brian Layton. “The safety of our youth will always be a top priority to the Fredericksburg Police Department.”
