The Fredericksburg Police Department is actively investigating an armed robbery Wednesday night at the Checks Cashed located 1301 Emancipation Highway. At 7:38 p.m., a male entered the business displaying a firearm and demanded money. The suspect left on foot, crossing Emancipation Highway with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Patrol officers set up a perimeter around the scene and began their investigation while a detective responded to the incident. A K9 track was also performed. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a reflective shirt, sunglasses, surgical mask, and a backward khaki baseball cap. City Police spokesman Sarah Morris says the investigation is active and ongoing and more information will be released as it develops.
