From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

On Monday at approximately 12:00PM Deputies responded to the PNC Bank located at 10213 Patriot Hwy for an attempted carjacking near the ATM.

Deputies arrived within minutes and learned that a 41-year-old convenience store manager parked near the ATM and was making a deposit when she noticed a male subject get into the driver’s seat of her 2020 Jeep Cherokee.  The manager confronted the suspect where things became physical inside of the vehicle.  During the tussle, the manager retrieved her firearm and pointed it at the suspect which made him think twice.

While the suspect casually walked away, the manager called 911 and was able to give dispatchers a good description of the suspect, what he was wearing and his last direction of travel.  1st Sgt. Daniel Harris spotted the suspect just South of the bank at another business and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Andrew C. Keen of Spotsylvania.  Keen was charged with Carjacking and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
