From Spotsylvania County:

The 16th Annual Spotsylvania Stars & Stripes Spectacular returns to the Courthouse District following a two-year hiatus on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 4-10 p.m. The event held at historic Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Holbert Building, Spotsylvania Elementary School and Spotsylvania Courthouse Village, includes four stages of live music and entertainment.

This year’s event hosts nearly 20 food vendors, more than 20 business vendors, free children’s activities and inflatables, as well as demonstrations from Spotsylvania Fire & Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office and the military. Free tours of historic Spotsylvania Courthouse and the Old Jail will also be offered. There are numerous road closures associated with the event, which can be found in the link below.

Plenty of free parking is available at Courtland High School and Courtland Elementary School, where shuttle buses will transport attendees to Spotsylvania Elementary School. There is also limited free parking in the county’s Public Safety Building lot on Dean Ridings Lane. In addition, limited paid parking can be found in the field at the corner of Brock Road and Courthouse Bypass (entrance off Brock Road). Field parking is a $5 donation to the Spotsylvania High School Athletic Boosters.

Parents are encouraged to visit information tables and first aid stations upon arrival to have their kids banded as part of the missing child wristband system. The evening concludes with a 30-minute spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Vakos Companies that is synchronized with a musical soundtrack produced by staff at WGRQ 95.9 FM. The rain date for this event is Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Spotsylvania Stars & Stripes Spectacular is the County’s Independence Day celebration held each year the Saturday before the Fourth of July. The event draws 18,000-20,000 people each year.
