From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest stemming from a shooting that occurred on June 18th.  49-year old Brent Alford from Spotsylvania County was charged with three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and one count of reckless handling of a firearm.

On June 18th at approximately 9:45pm, deputies responded to the 6300 block of Grace Hill in reference to a dispute.  Upon their arrival, they met with the caller, Brent Alford who stated that he noticed a vehicle parked in his driveway.

Armed with a handgun he went out to investigate the vehicle.  The vehicle was occupied by three juvenile siblings (17, 16 and 15) who were lost and had driven down Alford’s driveway by mistake. The juveniles were attempting to locate a party that was near Alford’s residence.  According to the juveniles as they were attempting to turn around in the driveway, Alford began banging on the vehicle window and yelling at them.  Startling the 17-year-old driver, he quickly attempted to drive away.  Alford fired one round from his handgun into the rear of the vehicle, striking trunk.  The bullet traveled through the tail light and ended up in the center of the back seat passenger area under the seat cushion after hitting objects in the trunk. Police say the two juveniles who had been seated in the backseat were not physically injured.

Alford was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
