DUI accident Saturday morning in Stafford leaves passenger with serious injuries

From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

A Stafford man faces several charges after a serious auto accident early Saturday morning.
On July 2nd at 12:08 a.m. Deputy S.P. Whitt and Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to a single vehicle accident in the 800 block of Mountain View Road. The investigation revealed a Toyota RAV4 left the roadway and struck a small pole, fire hydrant and tree.
The driver was identified as Jason Baird, 36. Deputy Whitt observed Baird had an odor of alcoholic beverage, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. A passenger in the vehicle had to be extricated by Stafford County Fire and Rescue. The passenger was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Baird was arrested for DUI, maiming as a result of DUI and reckless driving. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.
