I-95 Southbound

Exit 148 (Quantico)

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. and Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Overnight lane closures planned south of the interchange at mile markers 147 – 146 for Express Lanes construction.

  • 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
  • 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
  • 4:30 a.m. – Two lanes open, with a single lane closure in place
  • 10 a.m. – All southbound lanes open except on Friday, when all lanes open at 6 a.m.

Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closure in the same location.

Exit 133 (Route 17) to Exit 130 (Route 3) Through Lanes

Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Overnight lane closures planned as crews pour concrete for the second I-95 northbound bridge over the Rappahannock River.

  • 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
  • 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
  • 4:30 a.m. – Two lanes open, with a single lane closure in place
  • 10 a.m. – All southbound lanes open except on Friday, when all lanes open at 6 a.m.

Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)

Wednesday – Thursday,,9 p.m. – 8 a.m. Single lane closure starting at 9 p.m. followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. as construction continues on the Route 17 (Mills Drive) overpass replacement project.

Exit 104 (Carmel Church) to Exit 98 (Route 30/Doswell)

Tuesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single mobile lane closure. Pavement marker lens replacement between mile markers 105 – 101.

I-95 Northbound

Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)

Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure starting at 9 p.m. followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. as construction continues on the Route 17 (Mills Drive) overpass replacement project.

Exit 133 (Route 17) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Overnight lane closures planned for Express Lanes construction.

  • 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
  • 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
  • 4:30 a.m. – All northbound lanes open

Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closure in the same location.

Stafford County

Route 1 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single northbound lane closure between Layhill Road and Centreport Parkway for private development construction under permit.

Route 3 Eastbound

Sunday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect a mobile operation to allow crews to apply pavement markings on Route 3 eastbound from Cleek Lane to the King George County line.

Route 3

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Lane closures and shoulder closures for utility work between Dairy Lane and Rumford Road.

Route 17 Southbound

Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single southbound lane closure between Sanford Drive and South Gateway Drive for Improve 95 construction.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)

Sunday – Thursday, 9 a.m. –  7 p.m. Milling and paving. Alternating, one-way traffic on Garrisonville Road between Joshua Road and the Fauquier County line. A flagging crew will direct drivers near the mobile work zone. Motorists may experience a temporary rough travel surface until paving is complete.

Brooke Road

Monday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Shoulder work. One-way, alternating traffic near Smith Street.

Eskimo Hill Road

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. –  5 p.m., Work under the bridge. Alternating lane closures and flagging on Eskimo Hill between Montague Loop and Brooke Road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.

 

Mount Olive Road

Thursday – Friday, 7 a.m. –  7 p.m. Pavement patching and surface treatment between Kellogg Mill Road and Poplar Road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Brief delays are possible with mobile work zone.

 

 

Lake Arrowhead Subdivision

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Surface treatment on various routes in the Lake Arrowhead subdivision. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone.

Settler’s Landing Subdivision

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Pavement patching and surface treatment on various routes in the Settler’s Landing subdivision. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone.

Stafford Lakes Subdivision

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Pavement patching and surface treatment on various routes in the Stafford Lakes subdivision. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone.

Spotsylvania County

 

Route 1 at Spotsylvania Parkway

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Single right lane closure between Spotsylvania Parkway and Massaponax Church Road. Pavement widening for private development work, under permit.

 

Route 1 at Mine Road

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Single right lane closure between Mine Road and Market Street. Pavement widening for private development work, under permit.

Route 208 (Courthouse Road)

Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. –  7 a.m. Milling and paving. Alternating single lane closures on Courthouse Road between Smith Station Road and I-95.

Route 610 (Old Plank Road)

Sunday – Thursday,, 8 p.m. –  6 a.m. Milling and paving between Route 3 and Catharpin Road. A flagging crew will alternate one-way traffic near the mobile work zone.

Wilburn Farms Subdivision

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Surface treatment on various routes in the Wilburn Farms subdivision. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone.

 

Wyndemere Subdivision

Monday – Friday,, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Surface treatment on various routes in the Wyndemere subdivision. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone.

Caroline County

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Wednesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Survey and pipe work on Route 1 with single lane closures near the Ladysmith Center Shopping Mall and Collins Boulevard.

Route 207 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Milling and paving. Alternating single lane closures on Route 207 between Colonial Road and Route 301. Motorists may experience a temporary rough travel surface until paving is complete.

Route 301

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Milling and paving with possible flagging operations. Motorists may experience a temporary rough travel surface until paving is complete. The mobile paving operation will be at the following locations:

  • Route 207 and Sparta Road
  • Route 1204 and Route 608
  • Route 301 Business and Route 207

Ladysmith Road

Wednesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert for travel lane shift and construction work along the shoulder near the Route 1 intersection.

Anderson Mill Road

Tuesday – Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Pipe Repair. One-way, alternating traffic near the 21000 block of Anderson Mill Road.

Gloucester County

Coleman Bridge Test Openings

Monday – Friday, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge crews are scheduled to perform a series of overnight test openings on the Coleman Bridge (Route 17, each lasting approximately 20 minutes or less. After each opening, crews will reopen the travel lanes on the bridge to allow any traffic queues to clear between openings. Read the release here.

 

King George County

 

Route 3

Sunday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Pavement markings. Mobile operation on Route 3 with single lane closures between Route 301 and Westmoreland County line.

 

Route 301 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Milling and paving. Mobile operation on Route 301 with single lane closures between Roseland Road and Barnsfield Road.

 

Lancaster County and Middlesex County

 

Robert O. Norris Bridge

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Maintenance work. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on the Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Automated flagging devices will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone. Expect delays. Read the release here.

 

Lancaster County

Route 688

Sunday – Monday, 9 p.m. –  7 a.m. Expect a mobile operation to allow crews to apply pavement markings on Route 688 between Route 200 and Route 3.

 

Surface Treatment

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect a mobile operation on various routes for surface treatment. Flaggers will alternate, one-way traffic through a work zone at the following locations:

  • Route 627 (Chownings Ferry Road)
  • Route 677 (Lovers Lane)
  • Route 668 (Myer Creek Road)
  • Route 682 (Millenbeck Road)
  • Route 760 (Cove Colony Road)

Northumberland County

Secondary Road Resurfacing Work

Monday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect mobile lane closures, with one-way, alternating traffic directed by flagging crews. Crews will be applying surface treatment on the following routes:

  • Cloverdale Road
  • Guarding Point Lane

Richmond County

Route 3 Business

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Alternating single lane closures on Route 3 Business with flagging between the Westmoreland County line and the Lancaster County line for a mobile operation to allow crews to install rumble strips along the shoulder.

Route 203

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Alternating single lane closures on Route 203 with possibly flagging between the Westmoreland County line and Route 3for a mobile operation for pavement marking work.

Town of Tappahannock

Downing Bridge

Monday – Friday, 6 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect overnight delays crossing the Downing Bridge in the Tappahannock area for a routine, scheduled inspection of the structure. Route 360 will be reduced to a single travel lane, with one-way, alternating traffic each evening. Read the release here.

Westmoreland County

Secondary Road Resurfacing Work

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect mobile lane closures, with one-way, alternating traffic directed by flagging crews. Crews will be applying surface treatment on the following routes:

  • Dinks Mill Road
  • Lone Walnut Road
  • Nomini Hall Road
  • Tavern Run Road

Pavement Marking Mobile Operation

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. –  7 p.m. Expect a mobile operation to allow crews to apply pavement markings on various routes. In some locations, flaggers will alternate, one-way traffic through a work zone or direct drivers through an intersection on the following routes:

  • Route 3 Business
  • Route 202 Business
  • Route 203

Caroline County

Route 639 (Ladysmith Road) Widening

Construction is underway to widen Route 639 (Ladysmith Road) to four travel lanes between I-95 and just west of Route 1. A new raised median will separate eastbound and westbound travel lanes to allow for improved movement through the corridor. Additional left and right turn lanes will be built on Ladysmith Road at the Route 1 intersection. A shared use path, sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be installed. The project is expected to be complete in May 2024.

 

Route 652 (Cool Water Drive) over Polecat Creek

Cool Water Drive was closed to through traffic in March 2022 at the bridge over Polecat Creek, and will remain closed for a bridge replacement project. Significant deterioration was discovered in key bridge elements during a bridge inspection and VDOT closed the bridge for motorist safety. Motorists should follow signs posted along the recommended detour route. Preliminary engineering is underway on a project to replace the bridge, and work will be accelerated. The new bridge is estimated to open to traffic in September 2023.

King George County

Route 301 and the Nice-Middleton Bridge Replacement Project

A single northbound and southbound lane are closed on Route 301 between the weigh station and the Nice-Middleton Bridge for a Maryland Transportation Authority project to replace the bridge over the Potomac River and realign Route 301 at the bridge approach.

Mathews County

 

Route 223 (Old Ferry Road) over Milford Haven at Gwynn’s Island

Temporary traffic signals are installed on Route 223 at each approach to the bridge over Milford Haven. One-way, alternating traffic will remain in place, controlled by the temporary signals, through April 2023 due to a bridge maintenance project. Bridge openings for marine traffic are suspended through April 2023.

Richmond County

Route 637 (County Bridge Road)

County Bridge Road is closed to through traffic at the bridge over Cat Point Creek due to damage following heavy rain and flooding in summer 2021. The bridge replacement project is in preliminary engineering, with construction starting in fall 2022. The new bridge is anticipated to reopen in summer 2023.

 

Route 360 at Rich Neck Road/Mulberry Road

A single eastbound and westbound lane are closed on Route 360 near Route 619 (Rich Neck Road/Mulberry Road) during construction of an intersection improvement project. Both lanes will remain closed until work is complete in Nov. 2022. The project will extend turn lanes to enhance safety and improve operations at the intersection.

 

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Commonwealth Drive

Be alert for construction activity on Route 1 near the Commonwealth Drive intersection, where work is underway to build a nearly 700-space Park & Ride commuter lot. Be alert for work zone barriers along the shoulders of Route 1, and lanes that are shifted to the east near the Commonwealth Drive intersection. Project completion is anticipated in May 2023.

 

Route 17 Overpass Replacement and Widening

Construction started in December 2020 on a project to replace the existing two-lane interstate overpass on Route 17 with a four-lane bridge. Route 17 will be widened to four travel lanes to just east of the Hospital Boulevard/Germanna Point Drive intersection. Sidewalk, a shared-use path, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be added as part of the project. Improvements will be completed in Feb. 2024.
