City storm update

From the City of Fredericksburg:

Storm update: Rain bands associated with Hurricane Ian are slowly making their way towards the area.  Currently Fredericksburg is just north of forecasted Tropical Storm Force Winds (Sustained 39-50mph with higher gusts). We are forecasted to receive 2-4 inches of rain starting tonight and going through Sunday morning. Rain is expected to continue through Tuesday with a forecasted total of potentially 6+ inches of rain during the event. Virginia is still under a State of Emergency.

 

Please avoid travel when the storm arrives. Check your emergency kits and supplies now. Have a plan for your pets.

 

Storm preparations are underway in the City’s parks: Old Mill Park has been closed to vehicular traffic, and the restrooms are now closed in anticipation of Hurricane Ian. Porta potties have been removed from Old Mill Park and City Dock. Alum Spring Park and the Dog Park will be closing on Friday afternoon until further notice.

 

Special Events have been rescheduled: FAHAAS La Rumba in Fredericksburg is postponed until October 23. Power of Pink Walk is postponed until October 8. Art Attack is postponed until October 8. Chaos at the Quarry is postponed until October 8. Mental Health Awareness March is postponed until October 23. Fredtoberfest is postponed until November 19.
