Micah’s Cold Weather Shelter could use your help

by | Nov 20, 2022 | Non-Profits

From Micah Ministries:

The first few nights of our Cold Weather Shelter are in the books!
For the last two winters, Micah has operated Cold Weather Shelter out of socially-distanced hotel rooms instead of the congregate building, thanks to emergency COVID funding. This winter, we’re back in the congregate space and getting back in the swing of things!
Our old (and new) volunteers and churches have come together to make this ministry work again, with its many moving parts. We’re so glad to be able to provide a warm space for our neighbors, who would otherwise be sleeping outside in these freezing temperatures.
If you would like to get involved with the moving parts of this ministry, we still have a few volunteer needs:
1 – Bus drivers on Wednesdays, both morning and night. We need help transporting our neighbors to and from the shelter. Micah has a 15-passenger bus. No CDL required!
2 – Individual volunteers or church/community teams with Friday morning or Monday morning availability to serve coffee and supervise the morning hospitality space (at rotating downtown churches).
For more details about these opportunities, email [email protected] or call Jill at 540-848-5157.
We love to see the community come together to walk alongside our neighbors.
